Ebay Auction Gone Higher Than Expected

If I'm looking at the correct listing (and from the details given by the OP, I think I am), the item is indeed listed in the wrong category. If you are going to risk it make sure you listed as 'other' in the category and not under, for examples, phones or tablet or camera.
The one I think it is, is showing in the "Tablets & eBook readers" section.
Apart from this, the condition is
New other (see details) “Includes all covers and instruction manuals.”
and why would covers and manuals be supplied with an empty box?
I can see this one ending in tears.0 -
If you've found the right one then to definitely going to come back and bite the seller. If any seller is going to risk selling a box for a high end item then it must be listed as 'other' and not in the phone /tablet/watch etc category. It also can't be listed as new as that brings up the complete with everything included wording.Hermione_Granger wrote: »If I'm looking at the correct listing (and from the details given by the OP, I think I am), the item is indeed listed in the wrong category.

Op maybe about to get a slapped wrist off ebay or worse.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I always wondered why empty boxes sold for so much on ebay.
Then I was burgled, when dealing with the insurance company they needed receipts. I explained I no longer had them as items were out of warranty after that they asked if I still had the empty boxes as proof of ownership!!! The penny suddenly dropped.
I would never sell an empty box as I wouldn't want to encourage fraud.0 -
I've always assumed people bought them to box a second hand item they were giving as a gift, say if they had bought a second hand phone for their child but maybe I'm naive.
There is certainly a collectors market for carrier bags from the posher shops and they very obviously don't have anything in them.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Like ElefantEd suggests - the other area is collectibles - where an item may be worth say £25 on its own but £50 with the box (even if not pristine) so buying an empty box for £10 is a good deal. But I don't think this is where the OP is coming from...iammumtoone wrote: »I always wondered why empty boxes sold for so much on ebay.
The only genuine reason I can think of quickly for wanting to buy a box for a tablet is if you've bought the same model second-hand and you need/want the case and manuals. Mind you, manuals are probably online anyway.
Hmmm. I've still got a box from an old (decent make) watch that has since died. It never occurred to me to sell it. Now perhaps I should keep it in case I'm burgled and want to claim the insurance!I need to think of something new here...0 -
I did once sell a plastic ballpoint pen for £54! It started at 99p and just kept going up to my amazement. It turned out that i was collectible because of the advertisment on it.
And no, I did not feel guilty!0
