Browser says "Live.com not responding" and "long-running script?"

Hi - a neighbour with Hotmail browser issues; (mine works so assume this is not releated to the recent Microsoft mail issue).
It looks like this may be a script running the banner advert that Microsoft includes in its mail pages. If so, just wondering if an ad blocker may be a viable "fix"? Anybody experienced this? Cheers.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
