Cavity Wall Insulation in concrete house claim

Hi All, can anyone help? I have had a company canvassing door to door stating that they can claim for damage to my house (on my behalf) through the installation of cavity wall insulation which should never of been put in as it's a Laing Easiform concrete construction, this can lead to damp and structural problems. A surveyor working on behalf of 'Communicate Group' based in Clevedon, UK has also been round to look at the house and CIGA certificate. Is there a way I can ensure they are legitimate? They seem to think its an open and shut case but will not know if any structural damage has been caused until the insulation is removed and this would be after damages have been paid to cover removal of insulation and damp problems caused by it, therefore, if I had to fix any structural problem I would have to pay for it myself as I have already claimed? I don't know what to do!
I could try and resolve issue myself but don't know where to start, any advice greatly appreciated!

Step back and analyse logical thoughts. First is there any structural damage? Second, is there dampness visible with your home? Third how can drilling holes to inject CWI cause structural damage? Fourth, does anyone ever believe anything door to door knockers claim when cold calling unsuspecting individuals?
If you are happy and content with your home, why worry yourself with con people who go door to door knocking. Tell them to ---- off!0 -
Silly scaremongering a bout damp and cavity wall insulation.
I have a Laing Easiform house and Cavity Wall Insulation.
It hasn't fallen down so far.
I seriously doubt any company will have any success trying to claim compensation for the installation of cavity wall insulation.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Adding to my above comments, the whole situation is alarming. It appears OP has allowed a complete stranger to wander through their home, and given access to the CIGA Guarantee. This means security, valuables, locks, alarms, contact name, and address have all been scrutinised.
The type of people who go door to door knocking can be commission only, or cash in hand, or semi or total criminals.
Think carefully about the situation you are in. Then think carefully about getting out of it.0 -
CIGA have a section on their website under 'consumers' for information and guidance - there is a link there that alerts householders about claims companies and door to door knockers. I can't post the link as i'm a new user..0

I back all the posters above. Door knockers are a pain the derriere! If the issue is a genuine one it would have already been flagged by lot in the media or discussion forums like this.0
