Alliance & Leicester has been taken over by Santander - Can I still claim PPI

I had a personal loan from the Alliance & Leicester Building Society in the 1990s. I've found all the old details but this bank was taken over by Santander.
Can I still claim my missold PPI and will Santander honour their responsibility to all previous Alliance & Leicester customers.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes definitely. I've just received a cheque for £10000 from them for ppi on an alliance and leicester credit card. They made an assumption of the amount paid, it was from 1991 to 2002 so most of the payment was interest. Mind you we've got our current account, mortgage and lots of savings with them. MBNA who took it over after 2002 are also investigating, so might get some more from them!0
