It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

There's a lot to do in the region, can get very hot, some magnificent countryside.
Vancouver is on my bucket list, I love harbour cities.
You'd need a to hire a car to get the best out of a holiday.
It's an ETA for Canada and an ESTA for the US.
BA fly to Seattle and Vancouver if you like Avios, there's a bit of a rumour about BA starting flights to Portland.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Thanks.
Not giving away my age but do the car rentals there allow over 70s? This would be a deal breaker.
Anything historical or cultural to see. Don't mention Starbucks as historical, ha ha.
Much as we like scenery 3 weeks of it may too much.
Had a quick look at flights. There're some good deals available now for a year's time when we intend to go. Some with stopovers in SF or Chicago others direct.
But been and done SF and Chicago years ago and not interested now. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
Do a dummy search in https://www.carrentals.co.uk with your age when you are likely to get home from this trip, it may vary by US state and Canada.

For Canada you need to obtain eTA Canada. I have just successfully obtained eTA for myself and my son. My experience of applying for eTA was incredibly positive. I just filled in the form on that took me about a few minutes. So once completed and paid I got a response within 30 minutes. My ETA is valid for 5 years.
That is not the official ETA website, it's not even in English as you've provided a link to the German version of an unofficial site.
This is the official site: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/eta/apply.html0 -
We are flying to Seattle next summer and are then taking advantage of Amtrak Cascades to go to Vancouver and then back to Seattle...it also goes to from Portland and it might be something that might just interest you. Note though that when on website not all the trips are via train just 2 a day the other times refer to coach trips. In terms of coach/bus there are a number of other providers that might also interest you0
