Worcester Greenstar 24i Junior - No Heating

We moved to a new home 2 weeks ago.
The boiler gives hot water perfectly well but no heating.
There is a wired thermostat which seems to be live- it does not have an LED but its dial makes a soft click sound when rotated beyond a certain point.
Half the time when we turn up the thermostat we get nothing. Other times the green ignition light turns on and the boiler sounds good for 30 seconds - 1 minute, however then the ignition light goes off and the boiler winds down. During this short time the radiators make no noise.
I also put the boiler into Service Mode and turned the heating dial to max but exactly the same outcome (ignition light stopped after 1 min).
There is also a timer next to the boiler, but we have tried every which setting to no avail.
Any ideas folks?
TIA

What happens if you press and hold the chimney sweep button until it lights orange.
It should run the heating at max. If it does your problem will probably be with controls. If it doesn’t I would suspect possibly diverter valve or other problem internal to the boiler.0 -

New to you or brand new? If just new to you is it worth getting the boiler serviced? It would be a good time as you would then know everything is good to go for winter and any small problems would be resolved.
I have the same boiler, the only reason for mine not working so far has been a loss of pressure (have been working on pipework and radiators, draining & re-filling the system etc). On mine (I think designs may have altered slightly over the years) the pressure gauge is hidden behind a pop-down panel/door and water is added to the system using a plug in key and plastic nut valve. There is an ideal line at 1.2bar on our gauge, which may have moved but ties in with the plumbers advice of 1 to 1.5bar when the boiler is cold. My house had been empty for around 2 years and it took a good few top ups to get all air out of the system and the pressure to hold.0
