older (25) first time driver, very expensive car insurance quotes
I'm 25, so a bit older than usual first time drivers, but I only ended up getting my license a few months ago. I'm looking to buy a small first car, something like a Corsa, and I have been looking at car insurance quotes on the usual websites, and they are all over £2000!
That seems ridiculously high for what would be a very average car. This is for paying annually, monthly payments make it close to £4000 in total.
Any advice on how I can reduce this? Doesn't seem right. Its an extortionate amount of money.

The Corsa is the archetypal first car, bought by a 17-y-o and written off within the first year. Try some quotes for "family" type cars instead, e.g. Focus, Mondeo.0

Aye, even a non 1.0 Corsa would probably reduce the quote.0 -
Just about every Corsa ever will be at some point be wrapped around a tree or take out a bus stop of old dears hence the high quotes. Way too popular with chavs.

Also, a loan to pay the premium in full would probably be cheaper overall than paying in instalments.0

I agree with the previous posts - forget a Corsa - go for a car that does not carry the 'chav' image.
Any car that is typically driven by someone wearing a baseball cap on backwards is going to have expensive insurance.
Also look to having an older relative as an additional driver - which in most cases should reduce the premium.0 -
It may be an "oldies" car, but try quotes for a Honda Jazz. Or a similar such vehicle.0

Add an older woman on to the policy.
Will often reduce the price.0 -
