Warranty fault diagnostic fee

My 16 plate 2008 has a few faults;
It can be difficult to get it into reverse
There's a lot of vibration through the accelerator pedal.
The steering judders when reversing on full lock and when driving away cold the steering sometime sticky to begin with
When braking over bumpy ground I can feel something through the brake pedal. hard to describe but ut feels as though there is a horizontal bar under the brake pedal mechanism.
Its still within its 3 year warranty
So i ring my local Peugeot dealer with the intention of booking it in to be checked out and they want me to pay over £100 for diagnosing the problems. The fact that it is under warranty apparently makes no difference. Is there any way around this, seems like a rip off to me. I have never encountered this problem before. They also said I would not get this back even if the fault was a warranty issue.
Its funny that when you take a car in for a service they always find lots of things wrong for free that they can charge loads to repair.

Blurb from Peugeot
Our promise to you
We’ll put it right for free.
Naturally, we recommend that you take your Peugeot to one of our authorised repair centres for any work it needs. That’s the best way to make sure it gets first-rate attention from Peugeot-trained technicians, who’ll only use genuine Peugeot parts.
It also means your Peugeot Warranty will remain valid for its full duration. See our Warranty Terms & Conditions.
Talk to your local Peugeot dealer to find out exactly what your Peugeot Vehicle Warranty covers.
You can also check on the recommended Service Intervals for your Peugeot.0 -

I think the replier meant the 2nd nearest dealer then.... is the nearest one the one you bought the car from? Are you the 1st owner, it's not just the age but mileage too.
eg 60k or3 years whichever comes 1st.0 -
I've tried 2 dealers. It's done around 17k. I bought it from motorpoint in April but contacted the two nearest Peugeot dealers.0

With reverse are you allowing the car to come to a full stop and then dropping the clutch and engaging reverse.
My first thought on the other issues are that they sound like a sticking front calliper causing one side of the brakes to bind, I would expect warranty to cover that on a year old car. The other possibility is damage to the suspension from an impact to the kerb which would not be covered on warranty.0 -
It's a classic case of car supermarket v dealer.
Car supermarket sells nearly new cars cheaper than dealer, they advertise that the car is still under manufacturers warranty for X..years/months.
"Any problems take it to your nearest dealer."
Dealer is presented with a car that apparently has faults, they didn't the sell car, they have never serviced it. There is no goodwill or advantage to them in spending 2 hours diagnosing faults on the car for free.
The car is from a car supermarket so it's probably an ex hire car with unknown use history, increasing the likelihood that the faults are damage or abuse related rather than manufacture defects.
If there is a fault which is covered by warranty the dealer will only be paid by the manufacturer for the faulty part and a fixed labour amount at a low warranty rate.
If the faults have been apparent since you got the car I would suggest taking it back to Motorpoint as they sold you the goods.
When they say take it to the dealer, tell THEM to take it to the dealer. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on0 -
It shouldn't matter who I bought the car from and in fact didn't when I bought my last car a Vauxhall from motorpoint. What if I'd bought it from a private seller?0

I see no issue in the garage charging for diagnosis but if there is a warranty claim it should be covered as part of this.
Have you tried speaking to Peugeot's customer services to see what they say?0 -

A lot of peugeots used to have the brake cylinder sat on the bulk head in front of the passenger (probably still are? Easy for you to look and check) becuase they were made for the left-hand-drive market. I hope they dont do this any more.
Our 208 DID have a bar that ran accross the inside of the bulkhead to activate the master cylinder, and I never really liked this. When we got it it wasn't configured quite right, and if the passenger pressed the carpet in just the wrong place you could make the car brake! I guess they have fixed that on newer models though
