What is he Wiz? I have two that are happy with no longer than half hour walks, but the young giant schnauzer would like to come and live with you:D
He is a border collie cross with an Australian kelpie. He just keeps going and pulls on the lead all the way, he has even found a way to pull on a control collar/lead :eek:0 -
Boy have you got your work cut out. I heard a rumour, collie/Kelpie tired Ness kicks in around 60 miles. Then there's the simple fact that if the average humans is a 100, your dog is cleverer than around 58% of the population.;)0

Wow you certainly have your work cut out with that mix, a friend has one and she is non stop.
Just worth a mention though, there have been a lot of studies done which show that for dogs like yours physical exercise is pretty much useless to tire them, they build stamina quickly so you always have to add more and more miles to even get to a basic level of tiredness. That's not to say they don't need exercise, of course they do, but a few miles a day is enough to keep them physically fit. What they actually need more of is something to tire the mind. More training sessions, teach new tricks, learn routines (not necessarily healwork to music but a simpler version), scentwork and tracking, puzzle games to get their food. They are are the way to tire out an active dog rather than upping the exercise.0 -
It really depends on the dog. Some don't need as much exercise as others.
Any collie (whether full or part) is likely going to need a lot of exercise although it doesn't have to be all physical (mental helps tire them out too).
Our staffie probably needs the most exercise out of our lot - I walk at least 5 miles (sometimes longer if she's been particularly stubborn or boisterous) during her long walk (others are just quick walks for the toilet) but she'll do a lot more than I do as while I'm walking around, I throw her ball for her to fetch. To start with she's like a pinball. But gradually gets slower and slower until shes just walking after the ball. Sometimes she'll randomly decide she can't be bothered, picks up her ball and starts to head home - periodically stopping to check I'm following her.You keep using that word. Last walk is around half 4 for an hour. They get to go in the garden after that.
That's the third walk of the day for them and at the end they will have done over 10 miles, probably more.
One of the walks a day is a five miles (for me) in the woods where they can pretty much do what they want. rarely is any other dog or people in there.63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -
I do 3 walks a day
1st in the morning for around 20 minutes
2nd at lunchtime for around 20 minutes
3rd at 6pm for an around an hour.
Probably walk about 6 miles.

Last walk is a short "round the block" between 18.30-19.30; after that it's garden only. Used to do an evening walk but seemed to create a dog that constantly had the expectation she'd be going out again. The short lead walk late afternoon seems to settle them and tell them the outdoor day is over and they don't expect anything else. In summer, we'll do training and fetch in the garden until sunset, but the front door stays shut!0

Around 21:00 and 20/30 minutes and I let him choose the route.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

mine goes out for about an hour or so in the morning about 7.30 to 8, either across fields where I live or through the local woods, off lead for 99% of it so he goes where ever he wants, ( still in sight of me within reason).
The afternoon walk is for about 30 minutes, again around the fields and off the lead. This about 4pm. He has a lot of play as we know 90% of the other dogs we meetTreat other's how you like to be treated.
