I run an online business buying and selling and I want to link an American Express card to my PayPal account to earn air miles. I have read online that this is a bad idea because when you make purchases with you Amex card it's pays using dollars, then converts it back into pounds so you loose money via the currency exchange. Or something like that.
Could someone advise if it's worth linking an American Express to my PayPal? Will I end up paying more for items or will it just pay using sterling and I won't incurr any extra charges?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There used to be an issue many years ago with Amex linked to PayPal when you bought something in a foreign currency. Now you have the option to select if you want PayPal to do the exchange or the credit card0

but paypal exchange rates are notoriously bad and may outstrip any benefit of the air mile points.0
