Additional overdraft charges???

Hi, I am in the process of trying to reclaim bank charges from the Abbey and have followed the steps suggested. They have replied to my first letter, but have said they will not review my individual case whilst the High Court are dealing with the blanket issue of unfair bank charges. In the meantime, however, they plan to continue applying a £20 monthly charge to my bank account if it remains overdrawn and will also continue to chase the outstanding money by letter and phone. This situation could continue for at least a year, I am told.
As I am disputing the amount of charges in the first place and cannot afford to pay the original charges, let alone the additional £20 a month for staying overdrawn, does anyone have any suggestions please??

Change your bank...but do keep putting an amount into the account so you dont breach your contract.0

That's the best advice, change your bank account, cancel direct debits and standing orders and inform your employer and benefits agency if applicable of the new account.
Run your new account to stay in credit and pay the overdraft off with an arrangement. If they will not come to an arrangement and this is causing further unaffordable indebtedness, seek help from one of the following.

Hi, thanks for that, I have changed banks, this is how this all started because my old bank continued to take my direct debits etc out of my old account, even tho I had moved my business elsewhere. I'm just concerned that every month they are adding more charges to my account through no fault of my own. they charged me £25 for each "bounced" direct debit and continue to add £20 a month to the debt for being overdrawn0
