Hello

I recently signed up to a well known credit score website.

i filled in all of my address details correctly using there postcode and number and clicking my address.

The thing is that there are two flats at my address and they only had one option the main address.

I added that to continue got my credit report and i have really good credit.

However i am sure if I make the correction to the the address more creditors will be added and the report will be worse. I am desperate to get a mortgage and have been trying to move since the banking crisis. The question is do i present the credit report with only three creditors when i think i have 7 or 8.

is this fraud? will they find out? can I get away with it?

  • Your score has no meaning and no one sees it.

    Update your address.
  • Your score is meaningless
  • sorry i should have said the actual credit report is only showing 3 creditors and i believe i have about 7

When you submit the application and present evidence of identity/address the lender will use the Royal Mail postal address format output, so you'll be re-scored regardless.

    http://www.royalmail.com/find-a-postcode

Either that or it just won't allow you to proceed with the incorrect details.

Which versions of your credit file have you obtained?

Some credit providers may feed data to only one, or perhaps two. You will not usually find the same data on all three.

  • thanks for your reply, do the banks run there own credit check or do they use the example i provide from experian?

    thanks for your help
  • Lenders use the data from one or more of the CRAs. They make their decisions based on that, your application and any other data they have.
  • thanks zx81 so the credit report i send the mortgage broker is for what? do they use this or do they carry out there own search?
  • The broker just wants to see what he's dealing with - ie the general state of your credit history. Brokers don't do searches themselves as they don't lend money - they're a middle man.

He will likely want all three, unless he believes he has already narrowed the choice down to specific lenders.
  • ok thanks but what is still not clear.

We have provided a credit report sent to broker.

will the lender use this report or will they issue there own credit check?
