Sorry for being a bit numb :(

Is it as simple as using a socket splitter - and plugging both the Sky hub & Talk Talk router microfilters directly into the socket - or will I cause problems ?

1 phone, 1 sky+ hub, 1 Talk Talk router - what goes where ?

I have just moved to Talk Talk for Phone & Internet (Sadly I'm locked onto Sky for 12+ months).

Tried to use "catch up" on Sky for 1st time since change last night, but message appears saying this requires broadband connection.

Since I swapped the Sky microfilter to Talk Talk's Phone/Internet microfilter in my phone socket, I've only had 3 lights not 4 on my sky+ hub.

I contacted Talk Talk & they suggested an ethernet (yellow) cable from Sky hub to Talk talk router. Tried that. BUT Still not able to use "catch up", & still only 3 lights on Sky hub.
(Is it something to do with Sky not recognizing my new TalkTalk WifFi login ??)
One things for certain - They don't seem to like being plugged into one another !

  • Simply put you don't. Unless the Talktalk router is very restrictive in ports you junk the Sky router and if the Sky box is connected by WiFi then go to the boxes setup and change the WiFi connection.

    Don't comprehended.

If you have moved to TT why is the Sky hub involved at all.

Just plug the Sky TV box into the TT router via an Ethernet cable or use Wi-Fi using the TT routers details on the Sky TV box..
  • I dont think the sky box is connected via WiFi - how do i know this?

I've used an ethernet cable (a yellow one) to "join" the two, but that doesnt seem to have worked.

I dont think Sky recognises the new Talk talk wi-fi - how can I check this via Sky?

Look in the Sky box menu.

Doubt it will, the TT router will have is own network ID and password.
  • Thank you
    Problem solved
    Unplugged sky+ Hub altogether
Reset wifi settings on sky via handset / services etc

When I had Sky tv and internet, the modem connected to the tv and Sky+box, automatically (on pressing the wifi button), but the PlusNet modem does not have a wifi button,so I had to link it to tv (for smart) and Sky+ box by manually entering the new modems details into tv and Sky+ box.

They thanked both posts so I'd guess that's the info they acted on.
