Elderly cats

My old cats ( up to 21) got to eat whatever they wanted, wherever they wanted and whenever they wanted! So.....although their main meals were indeed complete cat food they also got treats of various meats cooked or raw, chip shop cod, home made chicken broth and even cooked fillet steak! Variety seemed to be key to keeping their food intake up so I had every brand of cat food available on offer to tempt them.0

My first cat lived until her mid-20s - was still catching mice until the last couple of years too!
Of my current crew, the oldest are now mid-teens and are getting fussier with food. I have 6+ different brands of wet food in the house at all times so I swap every other meal and that seems to keep them happy - If I feed the same brand more than 2 meals in a row then they'll just turn their noses up. What they won't eat, the younger cat or the dog will, so it doesn't go to waste at least.
I also feed them a good quality dry and they can be the same with that - so I have a few bags of different flavours/brands and alternate between them - which works fine.
Never let it be said that they are in charge though!0
