Tenant shop / Economy Energy
Hi all,
Going through a company called Tenant Shop, a free price comparison service provided by our letting agent, we were given the choice of two companies/tariffs with what looks like cheaper estimates than on Money Saving Expert for gas and elec (although of course they may just have calculated the estimates differently).
These are:
economy energy Direct Saver Fixed (v1)
TOTO Discount Variable Saver
MSE gave the following:
EDF Fixed Till 30 Sep 2018
Questions:
1. How do we decide whether to go with a Tenant Shop suggestion vs MSE suggestion?
2. Has anyone heard good or bad things about TOTO or economy energy?
Many thanks

Check what assumptions "Tenant Shop" made about energy used. Did you use the same numbers in the MSE? If not, then you are comparing apples v bananas.

Personally, I would register for MSE Cheap Energy Club and get some cash back. More worryingly, their website suggests that they only compare 21 suppliers when there are now over 50 registered suppliers.
Quote: With the choice of over 21 energy suppliers and the top phone, broadband and TV suppliers, we can offer unique deals to tenants ensuring they get the very best packages available. Tenant Shop comparison service appears to be an affilkiate of EnergyHelpLine
So why not use EHL direct (via the MSE link) and earn yourself possibly £34 for a dual fuel switch

Ensure you compare the whole of market, not just those suppliers the site can switch you to (although cashback is only available from those suppliers they do switch you to)
Prices are the same whereever you buy (except if you find a collective tariff) so if you are seeing different annual costs based on the same annual consumption in kWh, then check some more sites until you get 2 sites that show the same price
(errors can sometimes occur in comparison sites, but it's unlikely 2 independent sites will make the same error and hence show the same eeroneous cost)
You can use the search function to find feedback threads on almost every supplier here0
