Freesat Box

Moving to a new house soon, it doesnt have a standard TV ariel, but has a new Sky dish which has a twin cable running into the lounge. We have always had freeview but have ahd a few quotes from ariel riggers all around the £170 mark to fit new ariel ,mast and cable. i use a old freeview Humax PVR box at present, which i know will not work with the Sky Dish, so am thinking of getting the following freesat PVR box, i can get it for £168, looks a good option, as old Humax freeview PVR is showing its age as well....
Humax HDR-1100S 500 GB Freesat with Freetime HD TV.

This will work fine with the dish, but am not sure with the TV, its a Panasonic Freeview Smart TV, which will also be connected to the internet via a network cable or wireless, will the smart side still work on the tv, we use YouTube, BBC iplayer and Amazon films quite a lot. also have a Dennon Sound base, the Panasonic remote controls all of this and the soundbar as well. anyone know if the Freesat box would do the same, and finally can you run another tv off the dish, just a basic small one in the kitchen. all help and advice appreciated

  • I would use that Humax box for everything, plug the two leads from the dish into it, connect to the TV with HDMI and the TV will work fine with it and all the other bits will still work OK as long as the TV is connected to the internet. You could connect the Humax box to the internet as well to get TV catch up etc. on it.
Good choice of Sat box by the way. You could get one, new, for around £100 on Ebay.

No reason it won't work with your TV. It will connect to an hdmi input to be selected when you want to watch through it. No reason the smart TV function should be affected.

If your TV remote controls your current Humax it should work with a new one.

The Humax forum can be very helpful.
