Bath/shower screen

We have an en-suite bathroom with a fixed shower over the bath. At present there is a shower curtain. We have this because all the screens we have seen are attached to the wall near the taps, and you get wet turning the shower taps on. With a curtain, you just pull the curtain aside and switch on.
When we were on holiday, we noticed that the Americans all have showers over their 'tubs' and have a sliding shower door instead of a fixed panel, or swing panel. This appeals to,us as you would just slide the panel aside to switch on, and then close it when you got it.
We haven't been able to find anything like that back home - maybe we're looking in the wrong places. Has anyone seen or know of a good quality supplier?

No, not like that. There is still a panel next to the tap. If the panel could be slid aside, then you could reach in but as the panel is fixed, you have to reach round the fixed section.
I'm sorry I'm not making myself clear....it's difficult to describe. I don't want any panel -hinged or fixed - near the tap. I want it to be completely clear and allow me the ability to reach in and switch on, then slide it back into place. If I can find an American photo, I will post it.0 -
Not a great pic, it something like this

Folding shower screens fold back against the wall so you have direct access to the taps -

Though in my experience they are difficult to keep clean and maintain.0 -
That's why the American style is best - you have a clean and clear sheet of glass to slide along the bath top, easy to clean with no hinges or gaps in rails for soap scum to settle in.0

Hope this works

Yes! Can you see how the frame sits on the bath top, and the panel slides to one side so that you can switch on the shower? No messy hinges or folding panels....0 -
yes but that screen is still attached to the bath ends (taps and toe) like a uk one
and it makes getting in/out of the bath a lot harder as you need to step through the screen0 -
No, it slides. We have used lots in the US. It's like stepping into a bath, then you slide the door shut along the rail.0
