Brandy in Portugal

We are going on holiday to Lagos in Portugal shortly. Is there a Portuguese brandy. If so what is the quality and cost in the shops. Otherwise can you buy say Spanish brandy and how much should we expect to pay for a litre in the shops. Thank you

    Is Google broken?
  • Maciera brandy is the most popular in Portugal There are several different qualities. You can buy the basic Maceira Brandy at around 11 euros a bottle ( not a litre) in wine shops and supermarkets. The price can differ. The 5 star Maciera brandy is worth the extra money. The taxation on alcohol is a lot less in Portugal than in the UK
  • Ferreira brandy 1920 is another one to take into consideration. Personally I like it and it falls in the middle range price bracket in the off the shelf ranges.

Maceira 5 star we have found to be good. We brought a litre bottle in a wine shop for just under 13 Euros. Also Crofts Portuguese brandy is also worth considering.

Prices vary week to week. If they are near Alvor they can look themselves.

How ridiculous. Talking about normal retail shops, and brandy not bananas or petrol.

Your’e not familiar with Pingo Doce are you .
    :rotfl:
But your right, I really MUST apologise to the op for suggesting an outlet tourists often don’t know the wonders of.
It’s where the portuguese shop and as I’ve just arrived in
Portugal today, and was here three weeks ago, if I spot a particular bargain, ( in true mse style) I’ll let them know.If it’s before christmas it’s entirely possible it will be subject to a price drop.
I’m so sorry for not being familiar with the price of a product I’ve never bought.

I can only apologise for being so “ ridiculous”.
I’ll ask my Portuguese friends if they can recommend anything else too.
