Paying off CC balance before mortgage

I have a CC which I pay off in full every month via DD. One of the conditions of my mortgage is that I clear this month's balance before we can get the mortgage. It's likely to be a few weeks before my normal DD date. I'm sure this is a stupid question, but is it just a case of checking my balance and making a manual payment the day before we need the funds? Presumably my DD will then be adjusted to account for the fact that I've paid some of it already; is that correct?

Also, does anyone know when the balance should be cleared? Is it before my solicitor requests the funds, or is it just before completion? If it's before the funds are requested, then am I alright to keep spending on the CC after clearing the balance, or should I then make sure I don't use it until after completion?

I had to show a statement showing the balance on the card was zero, I did this by logging into my online account & printing it off

Never presume anything. It depends on your T&Cs as to what will happen when interim payments are made - some cards adjust the DD and some don't.
