Yes you would need to be no more than 26 weeks and 6 days pregnant by the time you get your one year service. Remeber that pregancy is counted from the first day of your last period, so 2 weeks before you are even really pregnant!
Do not be tempted to try early as "it'll take a while". This was my attitude and I missed out on OMP by 3 weeks! There is absolutely no leeway with it!0 -
Why would you train for 3 yrs only to then want to get pregnant as soon as possible to claim benefits within the service thats not right surely you would want to get the experience in of being a nurse for at least a couple of years if you are then maybe going on maternity leave for a year ??0

OP was looking for information, not opinions.
She is intending to continue working as a nurse - that's why she is taking maternity leave rather than resigning.
It is true that one's first year or two as a qualified nurse are quite stressful, there is still a lot to learn, and ideally it would be nice to concentrate on that and leave motherhood for awhile. But there could be many reasons, unconnected with her nursing career, that makes now the best time for her to try for a baby. Her maternity leave will be a small part of what I hope is a long career.
It is 50 years since I went for interview, and now 7 since I retired. For over 40 years, I was glad, even at the most stressful of times, that I chose nursing as my vocation, my job, and my career.
Wanderlust I wish you all the best with both of these parts of your life which will both bring you stress and joy.0
