Boiler Advice Worcester Bosch

I have had a few quotes for a new boiler. The house is a two bedroom terrace with one bathroom (electric shower)

Basically both quotes have been very similar i.e location of the boiler, specs for the job apart from the model of the boiler.

One has recommended the Greenstar 24i junior
Other has reommended the Greenstar 28i junior

The 24i is rated at DHW Flow Rate @ 35ºC Rise 9.8l/min
The 28i is rated at DHW Flow Rate @ 35ºC Rise 11.4l/min

I believe the 24i is adequate for our house as it is only a small terrace and our only use of hot water will be for baths & washing up ! The shower is electric so won't require a feed from the combi.

Has anyone installed the 24i in a typical terrace house ?

British Gas who recommended the 28i said it is more futurproof for when we have kids etc. Personally i think they are talking a load of rubbish along with the 10yr payment plan !!!!

Thanks

Mark

I'd always go for teh more powerful one personally if they are similar prices, you never do know when you may decide on kids or converting the loft/adding a downstairs toilet and ending up with a second flow. Even just on normal usage the difference in flows can make a reasonable difference to filling a bath and the like (nearly 20% quicker technically). But if you've reasons not to then go with your instinct. We used a Greenstar 35i in our previous 3 bed detached with only 1 bathroom and found it ideal, but even then with an extra bathroom I think it would have been impacted by a reasonable amount

my house has worcester 28i junior and its great (just need to rememeber to put the washing machine on before or after having a shower) its great to have have hot water on demand, but combis still have limitations.

I have a 28J as well, loads of hot water, dont want to say too much incase I jinx it lol, but I would go with that one.
  • I'd get the biggest one too.

The one in our new house is only 2 years old, but I'm tempted to replace it, as although it's adequate for the house size it takes an age to fill up the bath!
