Halifax Clarity vs Barclays Platinum Travel
Comments

Most US ATM's charge $3 (Usally free if your with that bank) free ones are usually dodgey...
Halifax is good for spending...
I am currently in the US & had no problems using it0 -
Good morning all,
Thanks for all the helpful advice. I am flying out on the 3rd so yes I am under the cosh at the moment!! So annoyed with myself :@ lol.
So I am going to see if I can get both the Barclaycard and Clarity as per adindas' advice so thank you very much. Yesterday I made the Barclaycard application and received an email saying I was approved with £5k credit so that's a good start. Hopefully they can manufacture and post it soon! I will apply for the Clarity today hopefully. At the very least I hope that if both come in time, I will use the Barclaycard until I receive the £26.25 cashback then switch to the Clarity if both come in time and I am still in the USA.
I realise my credit rating will take a bit of a hit but that's ok, I will just work to repair it when I'm back in the UK. If push comes to shove I will just have to look into that Monzo card ... whoops I messed up big time!!
Anyway thank you all ... will update you if I get any cards before I leave lol!

Hello all,
Just to update, I have been accepted by the Clarity card but I just realised I will now be without a credit card for sole UK spending once I cancel my terrible Santander card that costs me £3 a month. But can someone please advise whether I can use continue to use either the Platinum Travel or Clarity when I am back in the UK or does this mean I have to look at getting another one (and totally destroying my credit rating in the meantime lol).
Also I checked my Clearscore report and I don't seem to have had any searches despite the fact I got accepted by Barclaycard yesterday ... is this odd or does it take time for those types of searches to come up on there???
Many thanks,

You can use both those cards in the UK.
But you wouldn't "destroy" anything if you applied elsewhere.0 -

Of course you could it is a standard UK creditcard with "perk" of Zero fee for foreign currency transaction and withdrawal.Little_Bunny wrote: »Also I checked my Clearscore report and I don't seem to have had any searches despite the fact I got accepted by Barclaycard yesterday[/COLOR] ... is this odd or does it take time for those types of searches to come up on there???

Did you check it with all of three major CRAs e.g Experian, Call Credit, Equifax ??. It might be they only report it to one CRA. I understand that Barclay was using Equifax, but I am not quite sure what they are using now.0 -
Hello again,
Thanks PeacefulWaters, makes me feel better my rating won't take a dive as it's quite high and still is. And again thanks Adindas I got access to Noddle and yes there were a number of checks.
Now I'm just waiting for my cards lol
