Credit Score Impacted by this....

Hi All,
Would appreciate some input on this...
In late 2013 I had some financial difficulty, and ran up a lot of bad debt. I ended up going into a debt management plan with StepChange and paid it all of.
A lot of my creditors were very kind to my credit report, only presenting defaults where I'd actually missed payments, and while they didn't have to, they have reported my accounts as ok once the debt management plan started.
Santander however, did show that I was in a debt management plan but only for 5 months or so then they put me back to defaulting.
I'm not sure I have much of a leg to stand on here, but would people agree that this doesn't really reflect what happened? Seems to suggest I stopped paying via StepChange, which isn't true.
I tried to take this through the ombudsman a while back, but didn't get anywhere. My credit rating is so poor and as far as I can tell it's largely because of this.
Thoughts?

It sounds as if only Santander got it right, as you continued defaulting each month. I think you've got away very lightly.
Your credit score doesn't reflect anything (it's not a valid guide to credit worthiness). However, the defaults on your file will make lenders wary until some start dropping off.
On the bright side, you're already a few years in.0
