BT cable exposed

Hi all,
Recently left Virgin for BT infinity. Speed not as good but I got a good deal. I've noticed that the BT cable comes up from my driveway and enters my property through a small grey box. The cable simply comes up out of the ground and is not protected before going into the small grey box. We have had an openreach technician around and no capping was put over this. Should this have been done, and is it likely to cause any issues as the cable is exposed?
Thanks

It wont electrocute you if thats what your concerned about but should really have a cap over it.0

Put a big blob of putty/plasticine in the opening which will stop it backfilling with water and submerging the cable. No safety issues, but better fixed before it possibility causes a problem.0
