    When you have gone through your identity checks and UC are satisfied you meet the first four basic conditions (age, residency, not in education etc...) then they will tell HMRC and your tax credits will be stopped. So you may have some time without money.

    Thank you. Hopefully it won't be too long then but better save up a bit to make sure I can pay my bills and eat. Seems all so complicated lol

    Sorry to act daft if you receive universal credit , does that mean no more trips to the council? for housing benefit?

    You get housing element paid directly which you then pay to your landlord
