It may actually be worth asking yourself why your wife wasn't made an executor in the will. You have seen the will (even if you didn't print it out & can't remember what it says, really!) what do you think the problem is? If you think the executor has misbehaved there are processes you can follow.

Wow, enough with the borderline vitriol please.
My Wife was one of two siblings not made an Executor, the third and the eldest sibling perhaps being chosen because they lived nearer the deceased and had more day to day contact than the other two. My Wife's curiosity re. the will was borne out of not being furnished with a copy not because of any suggestion of wrongdoing at that stage. I've spent the afternoon looking at how a statement of inventory and account can be requested from executor, and this may be a way forward.
    Thanks.

I really would not waste any more time on this. As your wife only inherited a portion of the house proceeds, and none of the residual estate the executor is under no obligation to provide her with a full statement of accounts.

When my wife inherited the residual portion of her uncle's estate, the person who inherited his house never got a copy of the will or a copy of the estate accounts, and in this case the estate was wound up by a solicitor. My wife was the only beneficiary to receive this documentation,
