Samsung Tab A 10.1 black screen

hi all
been working fine for over a year then last night just got a black screen. definitely not a flat battery as when i press the home button and power button i can hear the tablet taking a screen shot.
unit hasn't been dropped as far as i know.

i've tried certain button presses to try and force a re-start but nothing is working. has anyone any ideas or is it a 'paying repair job' at a service centre?

Slight possibility that plugging in a charger will boot the screen .

No recovery or download mode ??

Tried similar but because the screen is black but i believe it is actually on, this method doesn't do anything.

So to be clear, you aren't getting the Samsung splash screen when you switch it on or the large battery icon when you plug in the charger?

no. not getting either because i think the tablet is on its just the screen is blank. if i press the power and home buttons together i can hear the camera taking a screenshot.

Pressing the power button and volume down button (the side furthest from the power button) for more than 7 seconds will reboot your tablet. If you do that and don't see the splash screen then it is most probably the screen or the connection to the screen.

i think you're right.
i have tried that button combination and nothing doing.
