Is it really necessary for my wife/carer to inform the CA unit that she is going away for a single night to a funeral ?
She believes that she will lose a single days claim over this and wants to do "the right thing"
Last year - I was in hospital for 6 nights and she lost 6/7ths of a weeks claims
I thought that a carer was entitled to a 4 week break without it affecting claims ??

No it's not necessary. I go into respite fairly regularly and my husband's ca and benefits stay the same and he was told not to inform unless it's more than 3 weeks.Master Apothecary Faranell replied, “I assure you, overseer, the Royal Apothecary Society dearly wishes to make up for the tragic misguidance which ended so many lives. We will cause you no trouble. We seek only to continue our research in peace".0 -
Nope, she doesn't have to inform them - some people receiving CA quite legitimately don't see the person that they care for every day. It is for people caring for at least 35 hours a week, and as long as she still fulfils that requirement, she will be fine.
I went away on Brownie pack holiday for two nights, and my daughter looked after my sons. I still cared for my disabled son for well in excess of 35 hours that week.0
