Will second home insurance claim affect main home renewal?

Will a claim on my UK holiday/second home insurance affect my main UK home insurance at renewal, for example, my no claims record? The properties are insured by different companies. Will I need to tell my main home insurer about the claim when the renewal is due or should I have already told them? Can anyone who has been in this situation help?

  • Unless you're asked about claims at a property specific level, yes you'll need to declare claims at one address on the other one.
And yes, it'll most likely bump up the non effected policy, same principle as car insurance.
