How long does a balance transfer take?

I took out a new credit card on 13th August and need to do a balance transfer by 11th October to get a bonus. However, the earliest I want to do the transfer is 3rd or 4th October (because of a big payment I'm making at the start of October), which is just 7 or 8 days before the deadline. Will this leave enough time? I'll be transferring from Barclaycard to HSBC.

Difficult to say as they can vary in timescale. I did one recently and it took around a week to go through, so that might be cutting it a bit fine.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0

That will probably be just about OK. What is the bonus that you are expecting and from who?0

Upto 5 days is usually the average time it takes0
