Blocking a draughty chimney

Any money saving tips for blocking chimneys?

We have four, so buying chimney balloons or chimney sheep will be costly. The nights are getting very chilly already.

    If you have someone local that sells blocks of foam (we have a stall on the local market for that), get a lump big enough to seal the hole.

    I assume that a black bag filled with material will be ok if you put a piece of 40mm waste pipe through the middle.
