GPS on a Tablet?

I was looking at the Alcatel Pixi 10" tablet, currently on sale in Asda.

It says it has "WiFi & GPS".

In this context, does GPS mean Global Positioning System?

If yes, what would I use it for in a Tablet?

GPS always means Global Positioning System.
You can use it on a tablet for whatever you can use GPS for on other devices such as navigation, locating yourself on a map, etc.

10" = the perfect size satnav to attach to your windscreen in your Vauxhall Astra..

Spotted some muppet in ASDA the other day with a tablet attached to the screen. Probably only lives up the road.

If i had an accident with someone like that i would take a picture and say he couldnt see much with this stuck in his face.

Also being used by some applications for geo blocking purposes.

Eurosport Player has recently implemented a GPS location services requirement which has resulted in problems for those using devices which don't have GPS including lots of Android TV devices.

We used a 10" tablet as a supplementary Sat nav on a recent holiday in the US. Whoever wasnt driving was assisting with navigation. Used Google maps offline. Found it very useful.

On the subject of "geo" things, I bumped into a guy on the Mohne Dam, who was "geocaching".

Never really understood the fascination, but each to their own. :)
