Ccj and car insurance

hey guys. i recently received a CCj for an old debt, amounting 500 something pounds. i am paying it back monthly but am aware it is now on my record.
when i applied for my car insurance (which i pay for monthly), they asked if i had CCjs, to which i said no because at the time i did not. i have paid on time every month.
however i wonder if i now have to inform them of the CCj? or whether it is only something they need to know at the time of applying or renewing.
also, when it comes to renewal, will the ccj be likely to affect whether they insure me or not?
i am on my own with 3 kids and need my car for my job so im very anxious... ill appreciate any advice/insight!
thanks in advance

Did you take out the policy before receiving the ccj ?
You could ring the insurer and without giving your name etc ask the question do they need to know of a ccj that's recently been awarded.0 -
No car insurer has ever asked about CCJs that I've ever used. If you want to pay monthly they'll do the credit search and find out for themselves?0

I agree with Car1980.
A CCJ should have no bearing on how a car insurance company rates you as a risk.
Paying monthly may be affected, as monthly payments are credit agreements.0
