Don't be daft - sometimes we need to pluck up the courage to do things that we know are going to help...a bit like me going to the gym tonight!

Ah, at least I can now legitimately not go to the gym any more, it was one of the first things I cancelled last week ;)

    <wispers> I really miss it though :(

You go tonight, burn a few calories for me!

  • Hello,

Definitely find out about the water meter - there's four of us my husband has two, not short showers, a day - I sometimes think he'd use less water with a bath - the kids and I manage on just one :) I do more washing than the local launderette, the dishwashers on most days and on a water meter we only pay £45 pcm - and as you can see we're not partuclarly careful.

You are doing fantastically well so far and sounding so much more positive. Keep it up.

    Em

I apologise if anyone has already said this (only had time to read through first 2 pages as got to go out!) but you are entitled to working tax credits, assuming you work over 30 hours? Sorry if I've misunderstood and you already get WTC, but thought it would be useful if you don't already!

Looks like yr getting into it, keep going, we're rooting for you :T

    Hi Jo,

Yep, we're already getting working tax credit as well as child tax credit, but thanks for thinking of me anyway :) (sorry, my fault for not making it clear on my SOA!).

  • Hi Scarlett

(love your name by the way:D )

Read your thread yesterday and just wanted to say good luck with it all, sounds like you are having a really hard time at the moment, I am afraid I am completely rubbish at sorting out my own money so don't have any fab advice, only thing I can suggest is what I am going to try, did you watch Martin Lewis the other night on TV? he was showing how you can cut your shopping bill by buying one product range down from your usual ie: if you usually buy the premium range then get the supermarkets normal range or if you buy the normal then get the budget! my shopping bill is always huge so I am going to give it a go

    Best of luck (((hugs)))
  • Good afternoon all

The jolly nice lady from Payplan called me back this morning, as promised and we were on the phone for aaaaaages (glad it was her bill, not mine lol!) and to cut a VERY long story short we are more than likely going to be going down the IVA route (not 100% decided yet though, got some thinking & some talking with H to do over the weekend, obviously it's not a decision to be taken lightly).

But I do have 1 concern which I'm hoping some clever bod on here can verify for me. Lady from PP said that we could include the First Plus (secured loan) in with the IVA, which would obviously be great news. Howeverm after spending the last half an hour reading all the information about them that I can find, it seems to be the general opinion that secured loans can NOT form part of an IVA

I've tried calling her, but the line is busy, so I have dropped her an email asking her to please verify this, but I thought in the meantime maybe someone on here might know?

    Many thanks,
    Scarlett xxx

PS. shopaholic - I'm a fan of the Sophie Kinsella books too lol!! Funnily enough, I can very much relate to Becky Bloomwood :o
