Reallocationof appartment on holiday

I was reallocated a new apartment as I was travelling to the airport. The agent abroad had apparently overbooked.
I was so angry. They wouldn't budge on no I'm not accepting that.
I hated the one they gave us. Hated the location. The rooms. Everything about it.
I want compensation as I l took a lot of time and effort to plan my holiday as it was my partners first time abroad.
I was complaining lots to my holiday company whilst abroad. One manager more than most. He asked how much compensation I wanted.
I have no idea?
Never happened before.
As the holiday got nearer to ending the holiday company were less interest in my concerns.
The said manager said they'll sort it out when I'm back. Not heard anything yet. Been home 2 days. ..
What do I do regarding compensation. How much ?
