I finish work at 4pm every day. That's my shift pattern, 8am - 4pm, Monday to Friday.

It sounds like a bit of a gimmick to me - my workplace finish half an hour earlier on a friday but the catch is we also start half an hour earlier on a friday.
I would not want a job where you end earlier on a friday if you have to work extra hours monday to thursday as there would be no net gain
I think it's much better working extra hours Monday to Thursday and leaving earlier on a Friday. Where i work we finish at midday on a Friday so that basically gives us a 2 and half day weekend. So I can actually finish work and go away for the weekend without having to take time off or arrive late at the place I'm going.
Some people choose not to work Fridays at all and work all their hours Monday to Thursday.0 -

Sounds exhausting! Any sort of travel on a friday afternoon normally seems like a nightmare - most motorways show as red on google maps and trains are often standing room only.0 -
