My ex's brother was at Cambridge in the 80's. I doubt things have changed much since. He lived in college (Pembroke) for three years.
Meanwhile my younger son is about to start his fourth year at Oxford, which is a bit more expensive to live in than Cambridge. He spent the first two years in college and the third year in college owned accomodation in the centre of the city (directly opposite the Ashmolean). Only in his fourth year is he renting privately, about fifteen minutes walk from the city centre, with five fellow students.
His rents have been no more than his elder brother's in Durham, London, and now Liverpool.0 -
I want to study there. I don't get a firm offer. But my friend got a firm offer from a college.theartfullodger wrote: »You want to study there or do you have a firm offer from a college?
I can improve my English and study other knowledge there.0 -

so you do not have an offer from a university or college at all. So where do you think you are going to study?I want to study there. I don't get a firm offer. But my friend got a firm offer from a college.

Unless you are a registered student you cannot just walk into a university with your friend and start studying!0 -
It sounds like the OP may be interested in the summer schools? Oxford and Cambridge make a fortune running summer schools, almost exclusively to foreigners. They aren't academically competitive, but a great way to generate income when the Undergrads have gone home.0

DD will be studying there from next month. Her college can accommodate her for the full 4 years of her course, so (fingers crossed) there should be no need to rent non-university digs. I believe most of the colleges operate a similar policy.0

Yes it will usually be cheaper to study elsewhere. Not London, Not Cambridge.., but it will be harder to find work if you intend to work the 20 hours allowed. and you will need a visa. My son is paying £150 a week to live in at the Roehampton University (but is an en suite room), its London but not central. But obviously you aren't looking at a degree.
I'm sure there are better websites than this to find out all you need to know.0 -

Most University of Cambridge colleges provide students with accommodation in halls for the full 3 years.0 -
I can learn from my friend. And I wish to make more friends. My major target is improving my language. And I want to travel in UK. But I don't have too much money. So I want to save as much as I can. I don't know if I can find a part time job.so you do not have an offer from a university or college at all. So where do you think you are going to study?
