IVA/mortgage

Has anybody had any experience in getting a mortgage after being in an IVA?
My IVA was 8 years ago so has long dropped off my credit report, however my mortgage broker is pushing Halifax as a lender who were one of my creditors on my IVA (credit card debt)! Will they still hold records of me?

Hi,
Most creditors keep internal records for up to six years, some longer, the Halifax keeps records for seven years, so may be borderline.
You wont know until you try, however, they mostly make decisions based on your current and recent financial behavior, and affordability, so anything that far in the past will have a negligible effect on you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. had no problem getting a near normal mortgage through a broker only a year after IVA finished and a 90% one, with Barclays Woolwhich.
and yes, Barclays was one of my biggest debts in the IVA
Good luck0
