Best pen for writing on a Gold Padded (aka Jiffy) Envelope

Hi all,

This is a very boring but quite necessary question - what pens are good for writing on Padded (aka Jiffy) Envelopes? I use the gold envelopes and find normal biro's are not very clear, you can get wider point ones so may have to give those a try.

I have found an odd old pen at home that worked really well, generally the very "inky" gel pens are good, but i've used them until they run out!! I also don't think you get clear text when you use markers or felt tips.

If I sold more I would print the addresses but at the volume i'm doing it works for me to write the address on.

Thanks all!

Gary.

I like to use a Sharpie or a Stabilo the non run thick type.

Just print the address on plain paper and tape it on? Works for me.

  • I've also found that a fine tipped Sharpie is ideal.
  • Hi all,

Thanks for the replies, I do my orders at lunchtime and keep a box of stock in the car so I basically package my orders in the carpark at the sorting office so pen is easier than printing - and i'm not really doing massive volumes, usually 1-3 a day apart from mondays that can be 5-10 so not usually worth printing.

Just found 3 sharpies for £2.56 delivered on Amazon so i've ordered those.

    Thanks all,

    Gary.

I also use Sharpies which are excellent. Gel pens will do at a pinch but you have to be very careful not to make holes in the outer paper layer.
  • Hi all,

Just to update on this exciting topic, I tried a standard sharpie (called fine bullet point) but found it bled a lot on my gold jiffys and looked a bit scruffy, as well as making the address hard to read.

I found ultra fine sharpies to be a lot better - little bleed and very sharp so i'd recommend those.

    Thanks all!

    Gary.
