HSBC - Credit File - ID Check

Been banking with HSBC for a while now, logged into Credit Expert and saw that HSBC did a random check on me a week ago;
HSBC Bank plc
Application type: Identification – Generic Check
Any ideas? Is this an automated thing? Should I ring up and query it or is there no point?
Haven't applied for any new products recently, etc etc.
Thanks

Nothing to worry about, standard check, won't impact your credit rating and won't be seen by other lenders.
In your terms you signed and probably been updated a few times if you gave had the account a while you will find this is allowed and agreed upon.

Ah ok so its just an automated thing that happens every now and again ?
Just weird that I never used any HSBC products on the day of the check and didn't sign up for anything either, but oh well.Thanks

Will just be random and you will have signed up as the terms state they will periodically check CRA.
Every time you get that letter that says our terms are changing unless you close your account as you don't agree to them then they will continue to assume you agree, hence why they can and will check.

Yeah spoke to someone today and they said there was nothing on their systems at all related to it so it must be automated, strange as even they didn't see it and sounded like they were just guessing.
Does it happen to you guys? been like 13/14/15 months since I opened the account.Thanks

No one else spotted one of these on their Experian file ?Thanks

This used to happen to me when I had a NatWest current account. I'd check my credit report and about once a year NatWest would run a check on me even though i'd not looked for nor applied for other products from them.0

Caught me out when I first saw it but I guess its normal and others have it.Thanks
