question about the wisdom of moving a Virgin cable installation

My house currently has Virgin cable with an internet connection only. The socket for this is by the front door, which is where my router is located. In the future, however, I am likely (but not certain) to want to add Virgin cable television as well.

I am currently having significant renovation done on the house, and I had a few questions about "futureproofing" it with regard to a possible Virgin TV connection:

• If I add TV to my Virgin package, will it even come via the existing internet cable anyway, or would a new cable need to be installed? Would a new TV socket need to be installed in either event or would my TV somehow connect to the router or the existing internet socket (perhaps with a splitter)?
• If the Virgin TV does come via the same cable as the internet, would it be a good idea to get my builder be able to move the Virgin connection point to the living room (so it's near my TV)?
• Would my builder be able to move it anyway, or would Virgin have to do it?

Sorry if these seem like stupid questions, but I really don't get how it works....

you should have a brown box on the outside wall of your house virgin normally run a cable from that to were you want then they put a white box on the inside wall and your router and virgin digi box both connect to the white box.

they would need to come in and fit a splitter to the white cable.


1 cable to router
1 cable to near TV


The splitters are dependant on cable length inside.

I guess you could purchase some VM coax cable off ebay if you wanted to get it into the house now (but not connected)

In theory anyone can do it, whether it's a good idea or not depends on the builder. You probably should get Virgin to do it though.
