  • I know, the people we were buying from wanted to be in their property asap due to schools.

Our mortgage offer runs out on Christmas Eve, but I'm pushing for end of November to be honest at the latest. Desperate for it to be sooner.
  • Bit late to this thread but I'm currently in a chain of 9!

I had been told that the house we're buying were moving to a new flat thus the end of the chain but found out last week that there are another 5 links above.

    Hoping to exchange this week.

Out of pure curiosity, what's the longest chain you've ever been in or were aware of?

In addition has anyone ever known of a chain that was actually a circle, ie where the person at the top of the chain is downsizing to the property at the bottom?

I was once in an 8 or 9. It had a split in the middle due to a divorce. I always considered it miraculous it all went off to plan.

I did once hear of a circular chain but it wasn't downsizing, it was something like £25k bottom going to £1M top, the FTBs at the bottom pulled out just before exchange and the £1M buyer or seller (I forget which) then bought the £50k house for cash merely to keep the chain intact. This was about 30 years ago when a £1M house was really something :D

    Blimey! 9!

Good luck with getting a completion date lol. That was the hardest thing in our chain of 6. We completed on Fri 24 Nov '17 in the end, but it took some work! We ended up with two and half weeks between exchange and completion. Longer than expected, but it was quite nice to have a bit of extra time to get sorted.
2024 wins: *must start comping again!*
  • I always break the chain on purpose so always been happy to move out once sold.
