We just got the keys to our new house and we are first time buyers too. I was very organised like you. Make sure you print off scans of passport and another form of identification to take a long too.
Also as long as you save up a good deposit, no one seemed to care that we had never had credit cards or finance. We just had a good credit report from never missing a bill.
You can get mortgage in principles to give you an idea of whether you'd be lent, you can do them straight online these days with Lloyds and HSBC. Even if you don't go with them, which we didn't, you just know for sure someone will accept you and estate agents are happier if you have one.
Be prepared, its the most stressful experience of our lives and its not even over yet. We have another week before we move and thank god.... the people there previously left it in a disgusting stateEven poo all over the toilet. Its disgusting. So disgusting. It makes me angry as we are in the south east so we had to save a lot to buy, our rented place is going to be left spotless.
Its been 4 days so far of scrubbing and painting and just trying to make it look more homely.0 -
If you do a lot of online statements for bills try and change now to paper.
Saves having to request bills being sent out if you happen to need original copies for solicitors.
Make sure driving licence/passport is in date.
Budget for fees and stamp duty.0
