    BlueScreenView from Nirsoft can give you some useful limited information.

    If it works fine in the shop but not at home then you've got to look at what the differences are in the environment and first port of call is what is attached to it.

    Change the keyboard/mouse and run without any USB devices attached. 9 times out of 10 it'll be something that is plugged in.

    Other things to check are to make sure it's not shoved against a radiator and overheating or next to anything that might pack an electrical punch (hifi speakers etc). Some things are very unlikely but if you've ruled out everything else..

    it is on a desk with plenty of space round it. tomorrow we are going to try changing monitor, then keyboard, then mouse, to see if it any of those.

    Old thread now but my issue turned out to me be a faulty memory stick which is why the crashes were random. Did a memory test from boot and that's when discovered the stick. Had to test each stick for at least an hour.

    Maybe the same issue.
