Previous address linked 14 years after moving

An old address that I moved from over 14 years ago has been linked to my current address, after opening a Santander Credit Card. Why would they link my old address so many years after I moved?
Its not a problem - there's no old debts or anything. Just curious more than anything else.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Do you know how they found about the old address? What purpose could this possibly serve, and why is it allowed? Anyone know?
  • I imagine I used to have a credit card with them when I lived there. And my existing current account with Santander I opened when I lived there. Just curious why it's been linked after all this time!
