MOT and Mileage

Newbie and looking for any help.
My MOT ran out earlier in the year and was stupidly unaware(first time in over 25 years driving!), as soon as I found out I got the MOT straight away. The problem now is I've noticed the garage that did the MOT have put incorrect mileage on the certificate and DVSA have it now showing as a reduction in mileage since last MOT.


It is too late to get garage to correct and need to contact DVSA to correct, does anyone know if they will issue a fine? Or maybe not tell them mileage is incorrect as car is only worth £1,000.

I wouldn't worry about it. Make sure it's done correctly next time and it will be obvious that one mileage was recorded wrong.
You could also just call the issuing garage and asking if they can sort it.

You don't risk any fine now over there being a gap in your MOT dates.


Take it up with the MOT garage as advised if you really are bothered about this

The garage can correct the mileage within 7 days of the test. DVSA can correct the mileage at any time but you need to provide documentary evidence that what you are asking them to do is correct (them not wanting to aid and abet you in clocking). Personally on a car of that value I wouldn't bother. It is not an offence to have a car without an MOT, the offence would be to get caught driving without one but you were not so nothing to worry about.
