Car insurance companies who ask for 3 years convictions?
Comments

Why do you think they "expired"?
They haven't! They remain on licence 4 years (they can't be used for totting up after 3 years)
You can see what difference they make to your premium by doing dummy quotes online with and without these in your history0 -
The points exist for four years... I'd be surprised if you'll find an insurer who won't ask about 5 years' conviction history.0

In my experience, 3 points make little or no difference (at least for speeding). Also, I'd expect any effect would get less with time, so negligible after 4/5 years.0

There are a few companies which only ask about accidents and claims in the last 3 years (Admiral and Direct Line spring to mind) but I've never come across one which doesn't ask about convictions in the last 5 years.
The points may no longer count for totting purposes but it's still a matter of fact that you were convicted on the offence, and insurers can legally require you to disclose it until it is considered "spent" under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Most minor motoring offences become spent after 5 years, which is why most (all?) insurers ask about convictions in the last 5 years.0
