My buildings and contents insurance is up for renewal and I have been quoted a price of £241.99. My insurance company have told me that they will charge £1.00 per month for paying by direct debit. I don't know if any of you out there can work out how much that would equate to percentage wise as I don't know if it would work out cheaper to put it on the credit card. Any one have any ideas?
Did owe £9,951.96

Shop around to other providers. Halifax for instance offer online discounts of around 20% & make no charge for monthly direct debits.
It's always wise when your insurance is due for renewal to get quotes from other companies to ensure you are getting the best deal. Even if you're happy with your company, sometimes you can get them to offer you a price match by saying so & so company have quoted you x amount of pounds for the same or better cover. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Have already shopped around and as we have had two claims this year our current provider is looking to still be the cheapest. I just need to know what would be the cheaper way to pay for it now.Did owe £9,951.96

I think that would be the equivalent of approximately 5%? It probably would work out cheaper to pay them by DD rather than putting it on the credit card, unless you will definately pay it off within a couple of months.0
