Puzzling letter from Ford Insure

I was lucky enough to get a new ford car last weekend and we decided to go with Ford Insure for the insurance. I emailed through to them proof of my No Claims Discount which is stated as Maximum.

I have just arrived home from a day out to a letter from Ford Insure asking me to call them asap and saying " we have now received confirmation of your No Claims Discount (NCD). However the details provided do not meet our minimum criteria and we are unable to accept this"

I am unable to contact them now as they are closed until 8am on Monday, but I am puzzled by how this cannot meet their criteria on the letter emailed through to them from my previous insurer it says - Your No Claims Discount Entitlement: Maximum.

I am stressing now that they are going to cancel the policy.

Does anyone have any idea why this does not meet their minimum criteria, I have looked at their terms and can't find anything that may apply.

Thank you

    What is the maximum?

Different companies show use different amounts.

E'g my husband had 9 years when he transferred to company A. When he moved to company B the next year his NCB from company A was shown as 6 years as that was the maximum for them.
When he queried it they were prepared to issue a letter confirming that he had 9 years when he joined them which company B accepted and credited him with.

its 9 years which is what I told them on the phone when arranging the insurance, they asked me if it was 9 years or over 9 years and as I couldn't remember I said go with 9 years and they were OK with that!

I really don't understand why they didn't ring me about this they have my number so I could have sorted it out on the phone, not stress about it until monday

Is the NCB from a U.K. Insurer? In your name (as policyholder)? Is the letter less than 2 years old? Is it a renewal notice?
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

It's the use of the word "maximum"

Do you have any other recent document from your previous insurer stating X years which is what is needed.

If not ask your previous insurer to send a proper proof to you ASAP. They will know this one you have is no good

Yes from a UK insurer and it was the proof of no claims sent through to me by my old company on 4th September.

To make things worse I have just checked with askMID and the car is not insured. I am really panicking now, what do I do.

Thanks Quentin I can contact them tomorrow for that, but have just checked askMID and it says the car is not insured. I can't get hold of ford insure until Monday, the letter says that if they haven't heard from me within 7 days of the date of the letter they would cancel the policy. The letter is dated 6th Sept so in theory I have until the 12/13th to contact them but it shows car is not insured.

as the vechile is showing not insured should I take out temporary short term cover for the next 2 days, I don't want to take a chance - I can get this for £60 to last until Monday.

The database probably hasn't been updated to reflect the policy start date.

They won't cancel till the stated date.

Keep your certificate with you in case you get pulled over. If you do don't mention this current issue to the police!
