Void Insurance

Hi All,

I am looking for some advice on taking out a new insurance policy after having my last policy declared void. I made a claim on my insurance after my car was stolen, but I didn't realise I had my mother on my policy who had previously been banned for drink driving. The insurance was void and I wasn't paid out for the claim.
Now that I am looking for a new policy, I know that I need to declare that I have had void insurance in the past, but do I need to tell new insurance companies that I have made a claim? Does it still count as a claim or not because the insurance was void? Also, I had 4 years no claims bonus and not sure if I still have it. I have done a few quotes on comparison sites ticking the boxes for void insurance and a claim made in the last 5 years and I cant afford any of them!

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks

Yes the loss will need to be disclosed.

When giving your history you are asked about claims/losses/incidents that could have lead to a claim, or similar wording.

You will find it hard to find off the peg online insurers prepared to quote you with a void policy in your history.

If so, see if a local broker (not Swinton) can help, or google for insurance with previously void policy for some specialist brokers

You have the worst combination of events. You have a void policy due to non-disclosure and you have a refused claim because of the non-disclosure.

You may need to forget comparison sites and try a local broker. Comparison sites are priced to accept the mass market. You are no longer in the mass market. You will probably need a specialist company to reflect the very high risk you are perceived to be for the rest of your life.

Swinton sent me someone elses insurance paperwork. They lived on the same road but way down the other end and no matching numbers and took the insurance for a new property they moved to.

I was not a customer either so a total mess. I had their paperwork showing bank details, home and work phone numbers wages and job desciptions etc etc...

They were quite shocked to get a call from me and had wondered where their paperwork had got to.
